Early College in Your High School

Early College

Jump-start your college degree!

The Early College/Dual-Enrollment program provides a great opportunity for high school students to get started earning credit toward a college degree during their high school years. And the best news is that students enrolled in the program receive a significant discount off the regular tuition rate.

Get the details below, or contact us at crossroads@geneva.edu for more information. And then get started by applying for admission.

Where can I take courses?

Several Christian high schools are partnering with Geneva so that their students are able to take Geneva College courses in their high school taught by high school teachers with master’s degrees that bear Geneva credit.

Contact Geneva College if you are interested in adding an Early College program at your high school: crossroads@geneva.edu or 724.847.6891.

Who is eligible?

Students must meet their school’s eligibility requirements.  Participation in Early College courses in your high school is by permission of your school’s principal, guidance counselor, or the course instructor.

Early College students can benefit from the reduced tuition rate until May 1 of their senior year in high school.  After that date, a student who enrolls in a new course will be charged the tuition and fees that apply to traditional undergraduate students at Geneva College.

What courses are available at my high school?

To find available courses speak with your school’s guidance counselor or principal.

Typically, high school students take freshman-level college courses that are considered general education or core requirements at Geneva College. For example:

  • English Composition
  • Biblical Introduction I & II
  • Introductory Applied Chemistry
  • Biology
  • College Algebra
  • US History
  • European History

Are there limits to the number of credits I can take?

Students are limited to a maximum of seven (7) credits each semester, with a maximum of twenty-four (24) credits while enrolled in the Early College/Dual Enrollment program. Students may continue taking credits beyond 24, however, credits above the 24-credit limit are charged at full tuition rates.

Are Geneva College credits transferrable to other Colleges and universities?

Geneva College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.  Full college credit is granted and included on a transcript provided by Geneva.  Should a student decide not to attend Geneva as a full-time student (but we hope they will), courses may be transferred to other colleges and universities.  When enrolling at an institution other than Geneva, it is best to discuss with that college or university how the credits you have earned will transfer.  At the end of each course, Geneva College will issue an official transcript to your high school that lists the name of the course completed and the grade earned.  That grade also counts as your high school’s grade for the course.   Additional official transcripts are available through the Geneva College Registrar’s Office for a nominal fee.

How do I drop a course?

We recognize that it might be necessary to drop a course. If this is the case, complete the Early College Drop Form and send it to crossroads@geneva.edu. Please note that a course may be dropped only during the first week of the class.
