An up and down week for the baseball and softball team ended on a high note for baseball and on a downer for the softball team. Meanwhile, the monster that is B Rex keeps chewing up opponents on the track.

Geneva's baseball team swept a doubleheader from Saint Vincent on Saturday behind the solid pitching of starters Matt Baer and Derek Sumner. Each hurler moved to 5-1 on the season with complete game victories. Geneva took game one by the score of 8-3 before shutting down the Bearcats in game two 4-1. Adam Sheiderer provided the Golden Tornadoes with some power launching a three-run homer in game one. Geneva opened the week with a single game loss to Washington & Jefferson despite two hits each from Derek Sumner and Jon Jurinko. The Golden Tornadoes ended the week with an overall record of 15-7.

The Geneva softball team started the week with a doubleheader sweep over defending PAC champion Bethany. Adriane Blake capped a three-run seventh rally with a two-out base hit in game one. Michawn Rich hit a pair of home runs in the second game to pace the offense. Ashley Archer won for the seventh time and moved to within four victories of setting Geneva's all-time record for pitching wins. The week went down hill fast as the Golden Tornadoes left 26 runners on base in a doubleheader loss to Thiel by scores of 2-1 and 8-4. The Golden Tornadoes ended the week with an overall record of 13-9.

Bobby Rex has now competed in two collegiate track meets and for the second week in a row in took home a first place finish. On Saturday at Washington & Jefferson, Rex won the 200 meter event with a mark of 22.78. Rex also placed third in the 100 meter race with a time of 11.40. Stephen Polite took fifth place in the triple jump and Rebecca VanRegenmorter placed third in the 1500 meter event. Jamie Williams finished fifth in the high jump and Tiffany Bear placed sixth in the 200 meter race.
