It was a magical weekend for Geneva's Tiffany Bear and Luke Duriancik at the NCCAA national track and field meet. Both athletes finished in the top five in their respective multi-events on Friday and Saturday. Bear finished second overall in the heptathlon with a total of 4218 points, while Duriancik was fifth overall with 5284 points. Bear also represented herself well in the individual javelin event where she finished fourth overall with a distance of 117-10. Freshman Cory Fraction got his first taste of the national stage with an 11th place finish in the 100 meter event, while his teammates on the women's side were very impressive.

Top ten finishes on the women's side included Kelsey Anderson (100 meter hurdles), Beth Bartolomeo (10000 meter), Susan Fletcher (3000 meter steeplechase) and the 4 x 800 relay team of Susan Fletcher, Nicole Okerlund, Laura Seyler and Rebecca Van Regenmorter.

Geneva's baseball team split its only two games of the week against St. Vincent College. After dropping the first game 9-4 on Saturday, the Golden Tornadoes rallied for a 9-6 victory in the night cap. Joel Gatti continued his hot offensive pace with six hits in the doubleheader, which moved his team best batting average to .456 for the season. Derek Sumner picked up his fifth victory of the season and struck out ten batters in the process. Sumner has 70 strikeouts on the season and is just four K's away from breaking the single season record. Geneva's baseball team sits at 15-15 for the season and will conclude the regular season with a doubleheader against Point Park today.

Records fell for the softball team this past week. After ending the season with seven straight victories and an overall record of 29-13, the Golden Tornadoes were able to rewrite the record books. Jackie Anthony swiped her way in the record book by posting 79 thefts in her career to break the old mark. Amy Pearce posted 51 RBI's on the season which broke not only the single season record, but already broke the career mark in just her junior season. Two weeks ago, Pearce broke the single season record for home runs as she finished the season with 12 homers.

Geneva swept doubleheaders from Franciscan and St. Vincent to close out the season as freshmen Rebekah Wahl, Anjelica Marsh and Leanne Abate each hit their first collegiate home runs. Wahl also won a pair of games in the circle and finished with a record of 14-4 and an ERA of 1.39, just missing the single season record of 1.37. All-Conference awards were announced for softball this week and the following were all recognized by the PAC: Ashley Archer, Jackie Anthony, Amy Pearce, Michawn Rich and Rebekah Wahl. Each of those players were also NCCAA first team All-Regional selections, in addition to Adriane Blake.
