Another offensive showcase for the Geneva football team leads to its second road victory of the season. The offense continues to shine for the menâ??s soccer team while the womenâ??s team watched a golden opportunity slip away against Westminster. The womenâ??s tennis team closed out a memorable season while the volleyball team is set for the final stretch. The cross country teams will finally get back on the course this weekend after enjoying two weeks off to get recharged.

The womenâ??s tennis team ended its season on Wednesday with a loss to Westminster. But that loss could not dampen the spirits of a team and a coach that experienced one of the most successful campaigns in recent history. The Golden Tornadoes finished the year with a record of 9-5 and enjoyed a pair of national honors along the way. Both Kara Zimmerman and Chelsea Cover were recognized as national players of the week during a stretch that saw Geneva win seven consecutive matches. Senior Bethany Ragonesi won her doubles match against Westminster as she closed out her collegiate career. The future seems bright for Geneva tennis and head coach Mandee Craft as Ragonesi will be the only loss for next year.

Genevaâ??s womenâ??s soccer team has been struggling to find the net in recent games. On Friday night, Geneva got a goal from Maura Allen to take a 1-0 lead against Westminster. The lead lasted well into the second half before the Titans managed to tie the score and ultimately get the victory in overtime. The loss was the third straight for Geneva which fell to 7-6 on the season. The Golden Tornadoes will look to turn things around this week with a pair of PAC road matches at Chatham and Saint Vincent.

Scoring goals has not been a problem for the menâ??s soccer team as the Golden Tornadoes are riding a five-game winning streak and have moved to 11-4 on the season. Geneva has scored at least three goals in four of those five victories. Last week, Geneva defeated W & J (2-1), Westminster (3-2) and Pitt-Greensburg (4-2). Josh Mann scored one goal against W & J and found the net twice in the win against Westminster. Teddy Krzywiecki scored twice on Saturday as Geneva enjoyed a road win at Pitt-Greensburg. Matt Weaver scored the game winner on Saturday as Geneva has gotten to within one victory of its 12-win total from the past two years.

Volleyball has hit a tough stretch and won just once in three tries last week. After suffering a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Bethany on Thursday the trend nearly continued on Saturday against W & J. Geneva watched Bethany rally from two games down to steal a victory on Thursday and W & J nearly pulled off the same trick, but the Golden Tornadoes managed to hang on in game five by the slimmest of margins 16-14. The good news for Geneva is that Adriane Blake seems to be healthy. After suffering through some back issues, Blake averaged over 3.5 kills per game this past week including a 16 kill effort in the victory over W & J. Rachel Kuegler and Maggie Bowersox combined for an additional five kills per game to help the cause. Geneva begins a new week with a 15-8 overall record and will welcome Thiel to College Hill on Tuesday night.

After two weeks off, the cross country team will travel to Walsh on Saturday in preparation of the PAC Championships on October 31 at Saint Vincent College.

The football team is starting to look like an offensive machine after another impressive effort on Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes posted a 49-39 victory over Waynesburg to improve their record to 5-1 for the first time since 1997. Geneva racked up 369 yards of total offense and more importantly held the top ranked offense in Waynesburg to only 312. For the second week in a row, Gerard Muschette found the end zone three times and Brian Wilson scored a touchdown on both offense and defense for maybe the first time in school history. Wilson caught a touchdown pass and returned a fumble for a score that sealed the victory. The defense came up with five turnovers including the fourth interception of the season for Rich Kolesar. Geneva will return home for the only back to back home games of the season starting with a rematch against Saint Vincent this Saturday.
