Waiting can sometimes be one of the most frustrating parts of life. For three of Genevaâ??s fall athletic teams, the waiting has just begun. For the football team, the one game everyone looks forward to each year is upon them and for the menâ??s and womenâ??s basketball team, the wait is nearly over.

The menâ??s soccer team now knows the path to the NCCAA national tournament while the womenâ??s soccer team awaits word on who and when it will play. For the womenâ??s volleyball team, it simply hopes that a road will open to allow it to have an opportunity to continue its record breaking season.

Genevaâ??s menâ??s soccer team will be hosting an NCCAA East regional semi-final game on Thursday, November 18 against Roberts Wesleyan. The other semi-final will feature Nyack traveling to Mt. Vernon Nazarene. The championship location, date and time will depend on which teams advance into the finals. Geneva finished the regular season with an overall record of 14-2-2 and finished in an exact tie with Mt. Vernon Nazarene for the top seed in the region. Mt. Vernon was granted the top seed based on a coin toss that occurred last week.

Genevaâ??s womenâ??s soccer team is still in a holding pattern. Most likely, the Golden Tornadoes will be hitting the road during the weekend of November 19-20 in what looks to be a four-team East regional tournament with the champion receiving an automatic bid to the national tournament. Genevaâ??s women finished the regular season with an overall record of 10-7-3.

Following a record breaking regular season that saw Genevaâ??s volleyball team post a 26-5 record, the Golden Tornadoes will now await word from the NCCAA as to whether or not it will receive an at-large bid to the national tournament. Geneva finished third in the NCCAA regional in October behind Mt. Vernon and Malone, which just happen to be two of the top three volleyball teams in the country. Following the national conference call on November 17, Geneva will find out its fate in hopes of becoming the first team in school history to advance to the volleyball national tournament.

Genevaâ??s cross country team knows exactly where it will be heading this weekend. The Golden Tornadoes will be sending seven men and seven women to the NCCAA national meet at Cedarville University this weekend. Both teams qualified following third place overall finishes at the PAC championships a week ago.

After its only bye week of the season, Genevaâ??s football team is re-energized to face its long time arch rival Westminster on Saturday at Reeves Field. The Golden Tornadoes are trying to avoid only their fourth losing season under head coach Geno DeMarco. A victory would secure a 5-5 record and would help avoid a winless season on its home turf. Senior running back Gerard Muschette enters the final game of his career needing 109 yards to become the schoolâ??s all-time leading rusher. Muschette broke the single game rushing record last week with 302 yards in Genevaâ??s victory over Thiel College. He also shattered the career touchdown record with 44 for his career on College Hill.

In conjunction with Saturdayâ??s football game, Geneva and Westminster have put forth a friendly food drive challenge called the Pantry Bowl. While Westminster collects food for Lawrence County, Geneva will collect food for Beaver County to make Thanksgiving baskets through the City Rescue Mission. More information will be provided on Genevaâ??s website this week.

Basketball season is right around the corner with the womenâ??s team set to begin its season next Monday at the LaRoche College tournament. The menâ??s team will open at home on November 19 in the first round of the 2010 Tip-Off Tournament beginning at 8 p.m.

Following is the athletic schedule for the upcoming week:

Sat., Nov. 13 Cross Country at NCCAA Nationals at Cedarville University 11 a.m.
Football vs Westminster 1 p.m.
