It was a week of split decisions for the menâ??s and womenâ??s basketball team. The only two sports currently going on campus, the menâ??s and womenâ??s teams each pulled off home victories before falling on the road over the weekend.

Wednesday night proved to be an exciting evening of basketball at Metheny Fieldhouse. The night started with a thrilling come-from-behind overtime victory for Genevaâ??s women over two-time NCAA national qualifier Washington & Jefferson by the score of 57-56. Trailing by as many as 11 points, Geneva rallied for an overtime victory. Christine Carugati (17 points) and Alyse Scarsella (16 points, 10 rebounds) sparked the victory as Geneva moved two games over .500 for the first time in two years. In the night cap, Bryan Hill lit the Metheny nets on fire with seven three-point field goals in leading Geneva to an 84-69 victory to remain unbeaten at home. Hill was 7-8 from long-distance in scoring a game high 27 points and reaching the 1000 point plateau for his career. Lambros Svingos and Drew Santarsiero each scored 14 points in the victory.

On Saturday, the tables were turned on Geneva as both teams dropped road decisions to Thiel College. The women fell behind by 18 points at halftime and could not recover and a 73-65 loss. Scarsella posted her third consecutive double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Beth DeLuca added 12 points in the loss. In the menâ??s game, Geneva again fell behind early and trailed by 24 points in the first half. A desperate comeback that pulled the Golden Tornadoes within five points could not be completed and the Golden Tornadoes dropped am 84-73 decision. Geneva had five players reach double figures including a team best 14 points from Rich Colick.

The womenâ??s team sits at 4-3 heading into this weekâ??s action while the men are 4-2 and are set for a busy three game week.
