The menâ??s basketball team continued its roll this past week with a pair of conference victories away from home. Conversely, the womenâ??s basketball team dropped two road games and will be looking to right the ship sooner than later. Meanwhile, the indoor track and field season opened last Friday at Baldwin-Wallace with some impressive results on both the menâ??s and womenâ??s sides of the ledger.

It is starting to reach historic heights when talking about the menâ??s basketball program. With victories at Waynesburg and Washington & Jefferson, the Golden Tornadoes win streak sits at four and their overall record was stretched to 13-4. Head coach Jeff Santarsiero took over the program in 1996. In his second season at the helm, Geneva opened the year with a mark of 15-4 but no team since has enjoyed the run of success that this current group is having at the expense of the Presidentsâ?? Athletic Conference. Geneva has also won seven of its last eight games and has dropped just one game on its home floor all season. Last week, Bryan Hill continued to sizzle from three-point range with eight more treys to extend his conference leading total to 54 shots from beyond the arc. Richard Colick scored a team best 19 points at Washington & Jefferson including a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. Geneva connected on ten consecutive free throws down the stretch to ice the game away. The Golden Tornadoes return home on Wednesday to host PAC front runner Thiel before heading to Bethany next Saturday afternoon.

While the menâ??s team is flying high, the Geneva women are simply looking to get back into the win column. The Golden Tornadoes have dropped four straight and six of the last seven to fall to 7-10 on the season. Last week, Geneva dropped decisions to Waynesburg (64-54) and Washington & Jefferson (70-53). Alyse Scrarsella did her best to get the Golden Tornadoes a victory as she posted team highs in points and rebounds in both games. She scored 14 points and grabbed ten rebounds at Waynesburg and then posted another double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in the loss at W & J. Beth DeLuca knocked down a combined five three-point field goals on the week and scored 11 and 17 points respectively in the losses.

The track and field team opened its indoor season at Baldwin-Wallace on Friday afternoon. A total of six student-athletes qualified for the NCCAA national meet in their first effort of the season. Seniors Dan Dillman (shot put), Corey Fraction (55 meter) and Shaka Sydnor (Triple Jump) all qualified for the men. Sophomore Nick Edinger (5K) also qualified on the menâ??s side with a first place finish in a time of 16:09.93. In womenâ??s action, Aisha Moore finished third in the triple jump with a qualifying distance of 32.03 feet while freshman Kathryn Regalado qualified in the shot in her first ever collegiate meet with a distance of 37-07.25.
