The Presidentsâ?? Athletic Conference games began this week in both menâ??s and womenâ??s basketball. Neither team was able to break through for its first victory of the season despite some very impressive individual efforts. While both teams dropped conference games at Thiel, the women fell to 0-2 in the PAC with a road loss at Chatham on Saturday.

The menâ??s basketball team opened the week with an 86-66 non-conference loss to Allegheny last Monday. For the fifth straight game, Matt Lorello led the offense with 19 points with Jordan Harbison chipping in with ten points in the loss. On Wednesday, the Golden Tornadoes opened the conference schedule with a 91-79 loss at Thiel. Harbison was held scoreless in the first half and then exploded for a school record seven consecutive three-point field goals and finished the night with 21 points to lead Geneva in scoring for the first time all season. Lorello scored 19 points in the loss but it wasnâ??t enough to keep the Golden Tornadoes from falling to 0-6, which is the slowest start since the 1981-82 campaign. Geneva will have a very challenging week ahead including road games at Bethany and Division I Youngstown State before returning for the conference home opener against Waynesburg on Saturday.

The womenâ??s basketball team fell to 0-6 with conference losses to Thiel and Chatham last week. Leah Prisuta posted a season high 19 points in the loss to Thiel with freshman Heidi Mann scoring 12. The Golden Tornadoes fell to 0-6 for the first time since 1988 with an 83-71 loss at Chatham on Saturday. Mann scored a season high 20 points and Prisuta chipped in with 15 points in the loss. Samantha Fisher picked up her first double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The Golden Tornadoes head to Bethany on Wednesday before returning home to face Waynesburg on Saturday night.
