geneva_tornado_logo.jpgGeneva students and the Golden Tornadoes alike are unpacking this week. Students moving boxes and couches will have plenty of Geneva athletics to keep up with as the GTâ??s unpack a full away schedule to kickoff their third season in the Presidentsâ?? Athletic Conference (PAC). This year promises to keep Geneva fans on the edge of their seats as the PAC Championship title is never set in stone to any one team.

The Womenâ??s Tennis team will start the competition as they are hosted by the conference rivals Bethany Bison. Head Coach Mandee Craft enters her 14 th year directing the successful program at Geneva. Last season the team ended with a player qualifying in each post-season flight. The Golden Tornadoes had one player advance to a conference championship match for the second consecutive season. Finishing in a two way tie with Waynesburg University for fourth place was another example of the continuing improvements and consistency by Geneva College and head coach Mandee Craft. With an 8-6 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the PAC, coach Craft ended after structured another successful campaign for the Golden Tornadoes. Craft and looks to do the same in the 2013 season starting at 4:00 p.m. Thursday August 29 th.

Hope youâ??re not out of boxes to unpack as the Volleyball team will be unpacking two games at the neutral site of St. Vincent on Friday. Geneva Volleyball will face Frostburg at 3:00 p.m. and Carlow at 7:00 p.m. As the 2013 season begins, all heads are up as the womenâ??s volleyball team is ready to take no prisoners with their eyes set on taking the PAC Championship and returning to the NCAA tournament in the post-season. Co-head coaches Curt Conser and Wendy Smith enter their 14 th season leading the volleyball team. This dynamic duo has put together more victories than any coach in Geneva volleyball history and the 2013 season looks to be more of the same.

Menâ??s soccer will be opening up their season at Mt. Union starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and face Hiram at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday during the Carnegie Mellon University Tournament. For the last two years, the menâ??s team has finished the season as runner-up for the PAC title, NCCAA title in 2011 and NCCAA regional title in 2012 under the direction of Head Coach Gary Dunda. This year the Menâ??s Soccer Golden Tornadoes find themselves to be a large young team with an overwhelming amount of talent to compete for the 2013 PAC Title.

As the weekend turns to Saturday morning the Women Cross Country Golden Tornadoes will waste no time starting their first race at 10:00 a.m. Both Cross Country teams compete in the Fisher Invite at Westminster during the morning hours. Starting 45 minutes later the Cross Country Men will begin their season. Head Coach Brian Yowler enters his fifth year at the helm of the cross country teams. He has a new challenge on his hands in 2013, filling the large shoes of top runners since graduated on both rosters.

Finally, the Geneva Womenâ??s Soccer team will travel to the University of Pittsburghâ??s Bradford Campus to start their first match of the season at noon. Finishing the 2012 campaign at 9-9-1 overall record, a 5-4 mark in conference and as the NCCAA east regional semi-finalists, the Geneva Womenâ??s soccer team is ready to turn heads as they begin the 2013 season. Head coach, Linda Sumner, enters her seventh year at the helm of the womenâ??s soccer team to what promises to be their most successful season yet.
