What you need to know about SARA

Before you ask, no, I’m not yelling at someone named Sara.

SARA stands for the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements.

In January, Geneva College received membership in the SARA organization. In short, SARA makes Geneva’s online courses more accessible to students who live outside of Pennsylvania. According to Matt Correll, Geneva’s Program Director for the Department of Professional and Online Graduate Studies, previous to admittance to SARA, Geneva was unable to accept many out of state students do to lack of authorization. Joining SARA has given Geneva the ability to accept online enrollment from students residing in 47 of the 50 states. The only states that are not currently members of SARA are Florida, California, and Massachusetts.

Along with an increased applicability of online programs across state lines, SARA is also an indication that the approved institution willingly agrees to abide by the regulations and standards set up in the SARA manual. Joining SARA shows transparency and a willingness to meet a standard of excellence. Since Geneva is new member of SARA, students can have confidence in the high standards of the college's online programs.

Reaching and ministering to additional students is an exciting opportunity for Geneva. It helps achieve the motto “for Christ and Country” that much more. Geneva’s online courses include those necessary to complete six different bachelor’s degrees as well as two master’s degrees. Geneva’s online Adult Degree Program offers bachelor’s degrees in: Aging Services, Child and Family Services, Human Resources, Management, Organizational Leadership, and Public Relations. Geneva’s online Graduate Program offers master’s degrees in Business Administration (MBA) and Leadership Studies (MSLS).
