Enjoy Every Moment of Summer

Summer is an amazing season. The sun, beaches, oceans, lakes, picnics and everything else summer brings leaves you with a sense of relaxation and fulfillment.

But I think in all of us there is a twinge of fear that makes us dread the end of summer. It’s like a nagging voice telling us that the present will pass away soon, and a harder and more tasking time awaits us. But are we really looking at this right? Should the future be dreaded while the good times of the present are here?

The answer to these questions is definitely no!

In Ecclesiastes 3 it begins by stating “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, etc.”

God made a time for everything. He wants us to experience a time to laugh and a time to cry, a time to feel well and a time to be sick and a time to relax and a time to work. By dreading the future, we are laden down with more burdens then we can bare. Not only are these burdens overwhelming, but they distract us from seeing the joys of the present. God has a plan for each time of our lives, and dreading any part of it brings unfulfillment.

The times of life God has for us are not always easy or fun but they are planned for the good of those who love Him. So, enjoy every day, hour, minute and second of the summer, and don’t worry about the future. For looking onward brings worry, worry – doubt, doubt – uncertainty, and uncertainty – lack of trust. Trust is the key to the plans of our creator; and even though we may not see the storms or joys ahead, wherever we go, whether to the right or to the left, our loving Lord whispers in our ears, “This is the way; walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21).
