A Closer Look: Exceeding Expectations Award for Geneva

Geneva College's passionate students have long appreciated the school's Christ-centered approach to post-secondary education, but now, the college's exceptional academic atmosphere has been recognized by Christian Universities Online, which recently granted Geneva College a sixth-place spot on its 2016 list of Top 50 Christian Colleges Exceeding Expectations. This list focuses on the quality of the liberal arts education offered at each of the included institutions. Each of the schools featured on the list surpassed predicted graduation rates, thereby proving that students received the academic support needed to achieve success in a challenging college environment.

Success with graduation rates

Geneva helps its students to do well. Geneva students exceeded the national average graduation rate for students attending a traditional four year university by almost 15 percent. What's more, the vast majority of Geneva graduates go on to find employment or to attend graduate school. Within six months of graduation, more than 90 percent of alumni reported that they were enrolled in grad school or involved in the workforce. This excellent post-graduate employment rate is, in part, the result of Geneva's Career Development Center, an excellent resource for those on the hunt for fulfilling jobs. Additionally, Geneva hosts regular on-campus career fairs, at which students can perfect their networking skills and distribute their resumes to interested employers.

More recognition for Geneva

This is not the first time Geneva College has been highlighted by Christian Universities Online. Geneva is also featured on Christian Universities Online's list of best online colleges, as well as its list of colleges that provide the best value. Geneva College was also named as a Christian College of Distinction, based on the school excelling at its ability to nurture students to grow, learn and succeed. Additionally, Geneva was distinguished by U.S. News & World Report as a 2015 Top 7 Best Value School. The engineering program at Geneva College was also the recipient of praise from U.S. News & World Report; it was named one of the Top 100 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs in the country.

Excellence is clearly a priority at Geneva College, which offers students a Christ-centered and academically-demanding approach to liberal arts education. The college's challenging core curriculum encourages students to adapt to today's rapidly-changing world while keeping the focus on the Scripture's inerrancy. With its strong focus on teacher-student interaction and impressive 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio, Geneva offers numerous opportunities for academic and personal growth. Those who are enrolled at Geneva College know they are getting the attention they deserve – and the solid Christian-based education needed to make it in a competitive workforce.
