DESCRIPTION:British actor David Payne’s first encounter with C.S. Lewis wa
s when\, as a teenager\, he was given a copy of Lewis’ The Screwtape Lette
rs. Little did he realize that some 40 years later he would be gaining a r
eputation for his portrayals of its famous author. He has portrayed Lewis
in a number of stage productions of Shadowlands\, in his self-penned Weep
for Joy and\, of course\, in numerous presentations of An Evening with C.
S. Lewis. His most recent production – again self-penned – is Wardrobes &
Rings which centers on the last meeting between C.S. Lewis and J. R. R. To
lkien. After completing the audio version of a new Bible translation\, Pa
yne was commissioned to write a play as part of its launch. He chose to f
ocus on the Apostle Paul and wrote Prisoner of Passion which is fast becom
ing one of his most sought after productions. Payne continues to tour thro
ughout the US and UK and when he is not touring he is either writing or fi
lming.
