How do we as Christian parents and educators welcome our students into an educational journey that ignites curiosity for God’s world according to God’s word? How do we seek to integrate biblical truth and wisdom into all our teachings across subjects in ways that invite our students into deeper biblical literacy and challenges them to consider the biblical foundation present in all knowledge?

This book is a guide for parents and educators, providing a framework for biblical integration in the classroom. Rooted in biblical literacy, this framework includes foundational elements for biblical integration as well as principles and practices for a life focused on biblical truth. All things hold together in Christ, the Living Word, who continues to walk with us on a figurative road to Emmaus, opening the Scriptures to us as one cohesive word that guides all of life.

Reviews and Endorsements

I'm thankful for Calvin Troup as a friend and as the president of Geneva College. And I'm grateful for this practical, wise, and accessible book. While looking to the intellectual tradition of the past, Troup also speaks to the issues of our own day. His counsel is rooted in Scripture and grounded in the creeds and confessions of the Reformed faith. Teachers, administrator, parents, and students will benefit from this fine work. Kevin DeYoung
Senior Pastor, Christ Covenant Church (Matthews, NC)
Associate Professor of Systematic Theology, Reformed Theological Seminary (Charlotte)

Given the current crisis of American higher education, there is an urgent need for a biblical, convictional, and confessional Christian education. This book provides a framework for exactly that. More than providing practical principles, this book is brimful of inspiration for faculty and administrators to be faithful to our ultimate calling to make disciples. Dr. Troup concludes by taking us back to Daniel and his fellow exiled friends, sounding the clarion call to be biblical in Babylon. Stephen J. Nichols
President, Reformation Bible College Chief Academic Officer, Ligonier Ministries

Sadly, the last few years of research and observation clearly show that something is clearly lacking in the spiritual nurture of the young in our schools, homes, and churches. Whatever it is we have been doing has not resulted in preparing students for a lifetime of biblically-faithful, whole-life Christian discipleship. Rather, the Christian faith seems to be a compartmentalized add-on to a host of other self-directed pursuits.

Calvin Troup’s A Framework for Biblical Integration and Learning both names and remedies what is at the root of this crisis: a lack of biblical integration into every nook and cranny of life. This practical and hope-filled book, which is for such a time as this, is one I will recommend to educators, parents, pastors, and youth workers, as it sets a clear path forward for effectively fulfilling our high-calling and privilege to nurture children and teens in the faith. Dr. Walt Mueller, Center for Parent/Youth Understanding

Genuine faith in Christ involves transformation from the inside out, from a new heart to a transformed mind to outward expressions of love and good deeds. A Framework for Biblical Integration and Learning offers a concise, practical, and encouraging approach to getting the “inside” right. This helpful resource, a welcome tool for teachers and students alike, promotes healthy flourishing by keeping Christ firmly established at the center of learning. John W. Kyle, Executive Director, The Fellows Initiative

This curriculum assists instructors in understanding the magnitude of faithful Christian teaching and learning. The practice of faithful Christian education is more than simply affixing a Bible verse to a lesson, teaching a devotion, or taking prayer requests. This curriculum exhorts instructors to see that faithful Christian teaching leads learners to see all of reality through the lens of the Bible and to live in accordance with God’s word in God’s world. Billy Hutchinson, Worldview Coach at the Colson Center for Christian Worldview

Please know of my excitement and support for this project. I am a biblical integrationist. Everything I try to do in my daily role I want to line up with glorifying God and carrying out the Great Commission. It is a challenge to help someone who is not, or does not understand how to fully embrace biblical integration. These chapters lay the groundwork and, from my perspective, help others to understand biblical integration. Steve Peterson, Guidance Director at Troy Christian Schools, Troy, OH

This book serves its purpose well in providing elements that should be expected in biblical integration like the importance and centrality of biblical literacy, the Christian intellectual tradition, biblical worldview, and subject matter knowledge. But this framework also includes an appeal to practicing the whole counsel of God and provides a case for the consideration of the creeds and confessions to help build an more robust context for Christian educators to consider when teaching biblical integration. whether considering these elements individually or collectively, Christian educators will come away with a fuller and deeper understanding of biblical integration as well. Mike Harper, Director of Vocational Guidance at Trinity Academy, Wichita, KS

A Framework for Biblical Integration encourages readers to think deeply about how to build biblical practice and principles in their field and the importance of the biblical foundation that will influence those practices and principles. Teachers, parents and educators across settings will be equipped and encouraged that the 'double work' is valuable, doable and necessary.Deana Mack, Chair of the Department of Education at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA

This new book benefits Christian education because it offers an comprehensive, biblically anchored approach to biblical integration. It does not hastily proceed to 'Christian worldview.' Instead, it emphasizes that need to base any worldview in the knowledge of the Scripture's true narrative. Moreover, it grounds our speculation and biblical interpretation in the creeds, confessions and intellectual traditions of the church. The curriculum helpfully articulates that biblical presuppositions and worldview can only proceed from the foundation of Scripture through the lens of the universal church. Therefore, it provides a solid basis for education Christian teachers and students alike.Zachary Kail, Chair of Biblical Studies, Philosophy, and Ministry at Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA
