for New Students

Summer Preview

SUMMER ORIENTATION

Summer Orientation (formerly Summer Preview) is for incoming first-year students who are accepted and planning to attend Geneva College. Parents are also encouraged to attend because they play an important role in helping students transition to college. This event is designed to give admitted students deeper insight into student life, as they meet with academic advisors, connect with future classmates, and learn more about their major. Parents will have the opportunity to learn more about the integration of faith and learning, attend sessions with faculty, participate in a Q&A session hosted by Student Development, learn more about Student Financial Services, and connect with other parents.

L and T

LEARNING & TRANSITIONS COURSE (SSC 101)

Learning & Transitions or more commonly referred to as "L&T", a course during your first semester designed to help you thrive at Geneva College.

The primary purpose of L&T is to help students flourish at Geneva College.  The course prepares students by focusing on promoting higher levels of academic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal performance within the college environment.  In order to accomplish this goal, students will develop skills useful for navigating college life.  In effect, this course explores Geneva's commitment to a Biblical Worldview and the topic of calling and vocation as its primary subject matter.   As we frame the college experience for students, we sincerely hope that L&T will enhance and enrich students' overall learning experience at Geneva- both inside and outside the classroom.

FYE BETA

BETA

The Beta program is intended to help students discover more of their leadership potential, expand their leadership knowledge, and gain a better understanding of how to engage their leadership potential on Geneva′s campus both now and in the future. The program covers a variety of topics and engages in various activities that are relevant to developing college students as servant leaders – empowered to serve on campus, in the church, and in the community.

Beta is a voluntary first year leadership program designed to explore leadership and how it pertains to Geneva′s students, both at college and beyond. From theory to practice, the Beta program provides you with the opportunity to deepen your thinking, foster your growth and find a community of friends who together live out the call to lead.

All incoming students hoping to get involved in the Geneva College community are encouraged to join. Contact the program at cse@geneva.edu.
