HEERF I CARES Act Disclosure

Geneva College has received funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) established under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). In accordance with reporting requirements under the CARES Act, Geneva College discloses as follows:

  1. Certification . On 4/15/2020, Geneva College (the College) signed and returned to the U.S. Department of Education (Department) the Certification and Agreement assuring that the College has used, or intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. The Certification and Agreement form is accessible on the Department’s website.
  2. Total Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students Funding. The total amount of funds that the College will receive or has received from the Department pursuant to its Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students is $673,627.
  3. Total Distribution Amounts. As of June 17, 2020, the College had distributed $658,061.09 of the $673,627 discussed in paragraph 2 above to students.
  4. Eligible Students. The College estimates that 1,028 students were eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.
  5. Total Distribution Recipients. As of June 17, 2020, distributions have been made to 983 students.
  6. Distribution Methodology. The methodology used by the College to determine which students receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act and in what amounts is described in the Explanation of Cares Act HEERF Criteria for Grant document.
  7. Instructions for Emergency Financial Aid Grant Recipients. Students were provided a letter in the form of the template with respect to the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
