Cost of Attendance

Think of the Cost of Attendance as your personalized student budget for the academic year, established before any financial aid is applied. This budget is the basis for determining your financial need and the types of aid you may qualify for, such as grants, scholarships, and loans.

The Cost of Attendance is calculated using averages from surveys, market analysis, and other research. It includes:

  • Direct expenses
    • These are the charges you'll see directly billed by the college through Student Accounts via NelNet eBilling. Examples include tuition, fees, and if you live on campus, your food and housing (referred to as room and board).
  • Indirect expenses
    • These are estimated expenses you might incur while attending college but won't receive a bill for. These include things like books* and supplies, transportation, and personal spending.

*Please note that new students are automatically enrolled in our Slingshot bookstore program, which bills you directly for books. You have the option to opt out and purchase books independently.

Keep in mind that the Cost of Attendance examples below are an estimate for the next academic year, prior to any financial aid, and your individual costs could differ. Financial aid offers, including grants, scholarships, and loans, may change or be prorated based on your budget type (full-time vs. part-time, on-campus vs. commuter, etc.). Geneva College may adjust aid offers to correct errors or reflect policy changes. The listed tuition and fees are the currently approved amounts for 2025-2026. 2026-27

Traditional Undergraduate Programs

The following example applies to full-time undergraduate students in majors other than nursing for the fall and spring semesters. Traditional students can choose between on-campus housing or commuting. Commuter students are defined as those living with parents within a 40-mile radius (subject to verification by Student Development). Off-campus living requires special approval from Student Development.

Please note that the full-time credit load for the Counseling program is 9 credits per semester, which results in higher tuition costs than those shown below. All students in this program are considered to have off-campus housing status.
