Verification Process

The verification process is an accuracy review process required by the U.S. Department of Education or institutionally selected. The Office of Financial Aid may request and collect documents that confirm the accuracy of your FAFSA information and a verification worksheet. If you are selected for verification, you will usually be notified via email and can upload documentation on your Financial Aid Portal.

Special and Unusual Circumstances Process

Federal regulations provide financial aid administrators with the authority to use their discretion or professional judgment to adjust, on a case-by-case basis, the cost of attendance, change to dependency status, or the income data elements used on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) due to a hardship. The review process will generally take 2-4 weeks to complete and does not guarantee additional aid. Applicable forms are available from the Office of Financial Aid.
