- During Biblical times, foot washing was a practice of hospitality that told the traveler, “rest your feet for a while, and then be on your way.” Jesus chose to wash His disciples’ feet as a symbol of service and sending. (vs. 16)
- “Service” to show the counter cultural way of the King and “sending” to empower citizens of the Kingdom to carry good news and glad tidings into all the world.
