Parable of the Growing Seed

The Kingdom of God is like...
A Growing Seed
Mark 4:26-29
Word:
What puzzles you or surprises you in this parable? What does this parable say about our role in the Kingdom? Who plays the role of the man scattering seed? How much control does the man have over the growth of his crop? Think this one through thoroughly.
World:
The American way is often all about “grabbing life by the horns” or “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” - how does the Kingdom of God as described in this parable challenge that mindset?
Us:
Our Christian culture has the tendency to adopt American principles and call them Kingdom principles. Agree or disagree? What are some examples that this conversation may have prompted? How does this parable challenge your beliefs, actions, lifestyle? More simply put - Do our lives show belief that God is doing ALL the growing?
This is a great conversation for “rabbit trails”. Let them happen and tie them into the parable and the life of Christ!
