These resources are licensed for Geneva students, staff, and faculty. If you are not using Geneva's Internet connection, you will be asked to log in.

  • Academic Search Ultimate (EBSCOhost) - Multi-disciplinary database featuring journal, magazine and newspaper articles
  • Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia (EBSCOhost) - Over 25,000 encyclopedia entries covering a variety of subject areas
  • Naxos Music Library - Classical, jazz and other musical recordings
  • eBook Collection (EBSCOhost) - Ebooks on a variety of topics, searchable by title, author, keyword, and full text
  • WorldCat - Simultaneously searches for books and more in over 9,000 libraries' collections in the U.S. and around the world

News

  • Newspaper Source (EBSCOhost) - Full-text newspaper articles from 35 major U.S. papers, and abstracts of articles from several regional papers
  • WestlawNext - Newspaper articles, business articles, and law resources for the undergraduate researcher. If you experience problems while using Westlaw in Safari web browser, try Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or another browser to open this link instead.

Publicly Accessible Databases

In addition to the resources that McCartney Library licenses on behalf of Geneva College students, faculty and staff, there are many sources of information freely available from government agencies or through local, public libraries. 

  • DOAB – The Directory of Open Access Books provides the online full text of books it lists, many of them from scholarly, university presses
  • DOAJ – The Directory of Open Access Journals lists journals that provide all of their articles online, without charge and provides a search engine for their articles
  • EBSCO Essentials – Search and filter results in this database of open access articles, as well as other sources that can be requested from your local public library through interlibrary loan
  • OpenDissertations (EBSCOhost) – Provides open access to over 1.2 million electronic theses and dissertations from around the world 

Pennsylvania’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries licenses databases for state residents who obtain an e-card by registering with their name, email, and Pennsylvania zip code.
