New Soccer Era Begins at Geneva with Loss

Pittsburgh, PA - First year head coach Todd Beall was hoping for a better result in his first game as Geneva′s new leader. On Saturday night, the Golden Tornadoes dropped a 3-0 decision to Carnegie Mellon in the 2006 season opener.

Geneva was out shot 20-4 in the loss and sophomore goalkeeper Sam McCracken managed seven saves in the 90 minutes. CMU scored a pair goals just six minutes apart midway through the first half. A goal four minutes into the second half put the game away for CMU, which was also playing its first match of the new season.

The Golden Tornadoes will not play their first home match until September 20th. However, Geneva does open up AMC North play on Tuesday afternoon when it visits Point Park University.
