Carlisle, PA – Geneva′s cross country teams were originally scheduled to host their only home meet of the season. Because of some scheduling conflicts, several teams were forced to back out which forced Geneva′s head coach Bret Otte to cancel the home meet. More importantly, Otte was under pressure to find a meet that Geneva could compete in this weekend. Otte did just that and the Golden Tornadoes didn′t disappoint as a major player in the Dickinson College Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Geneva′s men gave a great performance in picking up an eighth place overall finish in a field of 20 teams. Meanwhile, the women finished fourth overall out of 17 competing schools.
The usual suspects were once again ahead of the pack for Geneva. On the men′s side, Andrew Foxenberg came in ninth place with a time of 27:04 on the 8K course. For the women, Dee Koutsourais continued her tremendous season with a sixth place finish and a time of 23:25 on the women′s 6K course.
Other top finishers for the men included: John Perkins (44th), Phil Falk (48th) and Josh Falk (69th). For the women, Beth Bartolomeo finished in 18th place with a time of 23:56, while teammates Susan Fletcher (29th) and Rebecca VanRegenmorter (43rd) also gave strong performances.
Geneva will be off until returning to Carnegie Mellon to compete on October 21st, just one week prior to traveling to Waynesburg for the PAC Championships.
