Future Bright For Geneva, Women′s Cross Country Team Wins PAC Meet
Waynesburg, PA - In what was Geneva College′s first true taste of life in Division III and the Presidents′ Athletic Conference, the Golden Tornadoes′ men′s and women′s cross country teams competed at the PAC championships at Waynesburg College on Saturday. Although the final results were unofficial since Geneva is not yet a full member of the PAC, nor have they officially made the switch to Division III, the Golden Tornadoes came away with a first place finish on the women′s side and a third place men′s finish.
For the women, Geneva had five runners finish in the top ten, including Dee Kousourais, who led the way with a fourth place finish in a time of 24:43. Other leaders included Susan Fletcher (5th), Rebecca VanRegenmorter (6th), Beth Bartolomeo (7th) and Marsha Miller (10th). Geneva unofficially finished first with 32 points, which was 26 points better than second place St. Vincent College.
On the men′s side, Andrew Foxenberg finished fourth overall with a time of 27:56, while Phillip Falk (11th), John Perkins (15th) and Josh Falk (20th) all gave solid performances.
Officially, Grove City took home the crown on both the men′s and women′s side. Because St. Vincent is also in a provisional year in the PAC, its results were also not official.
Geneva′s cross country teams will run when it counts next weekend at the AMC Championships. Any runners who qualify for the NAIA national meet will compete in Louisville, KY on November 18th.
