BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – As part of the Geneva College Colloquia Series, Carl A. Raschke will speak on the topics of The Digital Revolution and the Coming of the Postmodern University and The New Reformation: Why Evangelicals Must Embrace Postmodernity in Skye Lounge on Thursday, November 2, at 7:00 P.M. and on Friday, November 3, at 10:10 A.M.
Carl A. Raschke, Ph.D. Harvard University, and chair of the department of religious studies at the University of Denver, has wide-ranging interests and engagements. He is the author of numerous books and hundreds of articles on topics ranging from post-modernism to popular religion and culture to technology and society. His best-known work, Painted Black, surveys the relationship between certain religious cults and violence in contemporary society. His book The Interruption of Eternity is regarded as a standard reference work on the origins of the New Age movement.
His most recent books include The Next Reformation; The Digital Revolution and the Coming of the Postmodern University; Fire and Roses: Postmodernity and the Thought of the Body; and The Engendering God, which deals with feminist strains in early Christianity. Dr. Raschke is also a past-president and former executive director of the American Association for the Advancement of Core Across the Curriculum and past director of the University of Denver′s Humanities Institute; he has also served on national committees of the American Academy of Religion. He is co-founder and senior editor of The Journal for Cultural and Religious Theory and has been involved heavily in recent years in the development of national online learning initiatives, including the Syllabus Institute.
