Geneva Concludes Winless Weekend at Clarion Tournament
Clarion, PA - Geneva College′s volleyball team and head coach Wendy Smith knew it would be tough going at the Clarion Tournament. The fears turned into a reality as Geneva ended its weekend with an 0-4 record. On Saturday, Geneva dropped 3-0 decisions to both Lock Haven University and Edinboro University. The pair of losses dropped Geneva′s overall record to 8-15 in 2006. The ironic thing about the four losses was that Coach Smith said her team clearly improved this weekend. "We knew it would be tough, but that is exactly why we scheduled these games," Smith said. "We are a better team now than we were when we came."
Geneva′s four seniors continued to do most of the damage for Geneva. Marisa Barickman led the way in assists and blocks, while Megan Summers added five blocks in the loss to Lock Haven. Caryn Azure added 43 assists in the two matches, while Allison Seldomridge continued to shine in the back row.
Geneva will travel to future PAC member W & J on Wednesday before hosting three AMC North matches next weekend beginning with a game against Daemen College on Friday night at Metheny Fieldhouse.
