Homecoming Not So Friendly For Gramlich and Geneva

Canton, OH - You can bet that Geneva′s women′s soccer team and second year head coach Leta Gramlich had this date circled on the calendar since August. Gramlich took her Golden Tornadoes to visit Malone College, the same school in which Gramlich graduated from just a few years ago. As it turned out, it wasn′t such a friendly homecoming as Geneva dropped its sixth consecutive match by the score of 2-0. The loss dropped Geneva to 4-9 on the season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amber Weaver, who had started all but one game coming into play today, was out of the line-up serving a one-game suspension. In her place, Katherine Bull played admirably in helping Geneva stay in the game. In fact, Bull made 11 saves on the day and allowed just a pair of goals to the Pioneers.

Malone opened the scoring in the 16h minute, which turned out to be more than enough offense. The Pioneers added some insurance in the final two minutes to reach the final 2-0 score. Malone out shot Geneva 26-11 in the game and controlled the pace of the match for much of the day.

For Geneva, it′s back to the drawing board in search of a much needed victory. The Golden Tornadoes will travel back to Canton on Tuesday to face Walsh University. Next Saturday, Geneva will welcome Daemen College for a very important match in the AMC North.
