Beaver Falls, PA – Jermaine Ferguson didn′t play college basketball last year. After sitting out an entire calendar year, he resurfaced on College Hill and played his first home game in front of the Geneva College home crowd on Saturday night. The senior transfer made quite a first impression. Helping Geneva cruise to a 95-60 victory over Ohio University – Eastern, Ferguson posted 18 points, ten rebounds and seven assists to help Geneva improve to 3-1 on the young season.

Although Geneva pulled away from OU-Eastern (0-4) in the second half, the Golden Tornadoes didn′t exactly explode out of the box. Trailing 9-4 after the first four minutes of action, Geneva scored the next six points of the game and would never trail again.

Senior Kyle McDermott, who scored just eight points in the first half, led all scorers at the end of the night with 26 points, including 11-14 from the field. Geneva shot the ball well all night and finished at 56% for the game.

Greg McDivitt chipped in with 17 points and ten rebounds, while Ryan Burns added 11 points off the bench.

“We will rely on our big guys all season,” said head coach Jeff Santarsiero. “Greg and Kyle are playing very well and we have obviously been very pleased with the play of Jermaine in the early going. Hopefully, we can keep up that pace all season.”

Geneva led by just three points at 34-31 at the end of the first half, but exploded in the final 20 minutes to out score OU-Eastern 61-29 in the second half.

The Golden Tornadoes will take to the road to play their cross-town rival Penn State Beaver on Tuesday night before heading to the Anderson University Tournament next weekend. Geneva will get back to Metheny Fieldhouse on November 29^th to play host to Grove City College.
