Parson scored all of her 16 points in the final 20 minutes of the game as Malone rebounded from a 37-30 halftime deficit. While the Pioneers enjoyed a balanced scoring attack with four players scoring in double digits, Geneva got good offensive contributions as well. Renee Rawding led all scorers with 18 points, including a perfect 10-10 from the foul line. Allyson Clarke chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jackie Anthony and Lauren Uranker each added nine points in the loss.
"It was a good ball game and a good weekend of competition for our ladies," said head coach Ron Galbreath. "Malone is a very solid team and hopefully playing this caliber will help us down the road."
Geneva was 0-8 from three-point range and managed just seven field goals in the final 20 minutes. For the game, the Golden Tornadoes shot 42% from the field, while Malone shot a solid 47% for the game.
Geneva will play its home opener next Saturday afternoon when they host St. Vincent College at 2:00 pm at Metheny Fieldhouse.
