BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - Twenty-six students won or shared cash prizes recently for the best academic presentation at the national convention of Alpha Chi, the national college honor society.

They were among some 175 students on the scholarly program, which featured topics across the full range of disciplines, as Alpha Chi recognizes the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors from all majors.

Among these students was Senior Thomas J. Parkinson of Geneva College, native of Beaver Falls, PA, who received the Jeanette Wieser Prize. His paper was "A Mirror of Perspectives: Nietzcheā€²s Metaphysical Truth." This prize was funded largely by Ms. Wieser, a retired teacher in Texas, and her friend, Dr. Patricia A. Williams. This year the prize was sent to the best presentation in a miscellaneous category.

The presentation prizes, endowed by alumni and friends of the society, carried stipends of $200. The convention, attended by about 400 delegates, was March 15-17 in San Antonio.

Geneva College, a reformed Christian liberal arts school founded in 1848, prepares students to serve Christ in all areas of society: work, family and the church. Geneva is a founding member of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
