NEW WOMEN′S SOCCER COACH AT GENEVA

Beaver Falls, PA -- Athletic Director Geno DeMarco announced today that Linda (Nienhuis) Sumner has been selected to be the head women′s soccer coach at Geneva College. Sumner is a Geneva alum, graduating in 1991, and was an assistant coach for the women′s soccer team for three years.

As a player, she was a four-year starter on the Golden Tornadoes women′s soccer team, earning NAIA All-American Honors her senior year. Sumner held the women′s scoring record (66 goals) for 15 years before it was broken in 2005

Sumner has been actively involved coaching youth soccer in the Blackhawk Soccer Association for the past five years. In addition to her duties as head women′s soccer coach, she will serve as the discipleship coordinator for women′s athletics at Geneva.

"The hiring of Linda Sumner adds to the excellence of our athletic department. We expect her to have a positive impact at Geneva," states DeMarco.

Sumner adds, "I am very excited about the opportunity to return to my alma mater and to rejoin the Geneva College community. I look forward to being an active part of an athletic department that has had so much success, athletically, academically and spiritually."

Coach Sumner resides on College Hill in Beaver Falls with her husband, Alan, and two daughters, Jamie and Erica.
