SUCCESSFUL SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS AT WESTMINSTER

New Wilmington, PA- Geneva′s women′s tennis team saw its first season as a member of NCAA Division III and the Presidents′ Athletic Conference come to an end on Wednesday with a 7-2 loss at Westminster. Despite the season ending defeat, Geneva finished its first Division III campaign with a winning record of 7-5. It marked the first time in seven years that Geneva′s tennis team ended its season with an overall winning mark.

On Wednesday, Geneva watched Westminster win all six doubles matches, four of which went three sets. In fact, Allison Krisza and Katie Caldwell both lost marathon singles matches. Krisza dropped the third set 11-9, while Caldwell fell 10-8 in the third and final set. Jill Halama and Tess Roholt also took their opponents to three sets, but all four Golden Tornadoes ultimately lost the match.

In doubles, Geneva was able to turn the tables as the Golden Tornadoes won two of the three matches. Tess Roholt and Jill Halama teamed up to win number one doubles, while Beth Sweatman and Jill Grabski cruised in third singles.

Geneva ends its season with a record of 7-5 and was led all season by its top three players in Halama, Krisza and Roholt. Those three combined for an overall singles record of 23-11.
