NO PROBLEM FOR GENEVA AS IT WINS ANOTHER

Beaver Falls, PA- Geneva′s women′s volleyball team won for the eighth time in its last ten matches on Monday night. The Golden Tornadoes quickly dispatched Chatham College in three straight games by scores of 30-9, 30-15, 30-17. The 3-0 victory improved Geneva′s overall record to 9-15, while Chatham′s troubles continued as it fell to 1-21 on the season.

Co-head coaches Wendy Smith and Curt Conser used Monday′s match as a chance to use some back-up players, while at the same time giving some front liners some time to rest. Leading hitters Adriane Blake and Sarah Bruck didn′t see the floor in games two and three, while Elizabeth Fisher led the way on the offensive side of the court. Fisher threw down 15 kills in the victory and Brandi Snavely continued to lead the way with her assist totals. Snavely entered the match averaging nearly 10.5 assists per game.

Significant contributions were also made by Taryn Alverson, Amy Hagen and Laura Zerbe. At the net, Fisher was joined by Blair Bruce and Michelle Zimmovan as the hitting stars of the night.

Geneva will enjoy a few days of additional rest before heading north to Rochester, NY over the weekend for the NCCAA East regional tournament. The Golden Tornadoes will compete against Malone, Mt. Vernon Nazarene and Roberts Wesleyan with the winner advancing into the national tournament.

Geneva will return to Metheny Fieldhouse next Tuesday night to face Bethany College in another PAC match.
