Geneva College opens its 2007-2008 theatre season with Arms and the Man, a comedy written by George Bernard Shaw.

"Taking its cue from the maxim ‘all′s fair in love and war,′ George Bernard Shaw′s Arms and the Man is a witty comedy that debunks Romantic idealism in both love and war," says director Dr. David Kuhns."Shaw provides a delightful evening of laughter and thought-provoking insights."

Set in Bulgaria in 1885, the comedy revolves around two soldiers and the woman who must choose between them. Through the events of the play, Shaw satirizes conventional values about war and marriage.

Senior Scott Metzger takes on the role of Sergius, who, according to Kuhns, is a "vainglorious man of military bravado." Sergius′s rival Bluntschli, played by senior Chris Olshefski, is "the pragmatic Swiss mercenary who would rather carry chocolate creams than a gun in his holster." Junior Lindsay Bochek stars as Raina, the object of Sergius′s and Bluntschli′s affections.

The show will run Oct. 25 - 27 as well as Nov. 1 - 3 in Geneva′s Studio Theatre. For more information or for ticket reservations, call the 24-hour box office at 724-847-5099.
