Grove City put an end to that eight-game winning streak with a 2-0 decision over the Golden Tornadoes on Wednesday night. Geneva′s overall record fell to 11-6, while Grove City moved to 5-8-4.\nGeneva spotted Grove City the first goal of the game in just the third minute of play. Jake Kern fed a ball past Geneva goalkeeper Sam McCracken for the first tally of the match. Both teams played evenly for the remainder of the first half, but the teams went to the break with that 1-0 score.\nGeneva had several opportunities to tie the match in the second half, but could not capitalize on those chances. Sean Osborne put in the insurance goal for the Wolverines and Geneva could not respond. Despite a red-card ejection from Grove City in the 67th minute, Geneva could not find the offensive answers down the stretch with a one-man advantage.\nMcCracken made nine saves for the Golden Tornadoes as Grove City out shot Geneva 13-9, which marked just the fourth time all year that a team has had more shots than Geneva.\nGeneva will close out the regular season at home on Friday night when it hosts Bethany College at 7 pm. The Golden Tornadoes will then await word from the NCCAA on the date and site of the Eastern Regional tournament.","author":null,"publishDate":"2007-10-24","type":"Athletics Press Release","title":"October 24, 2007","imageDesc":"","url":"/article/io_1193276823606","blogCategories":"","id":"8bd2d4c70a1504317d5826746d755a36","detailUrl":"/news/2007/10/io_1193276823606.json","sourcePath":null,"slug":"io_1193276823606"}}
