UNBEATEN STREAK REACHES FOUR, GENEVA
CRUISES PAST PITT-GREENSBURG
Beaver Falls, PA - Geneva′s women′s soccer team hasn′t lost a match in three weeks. The Golden Tornadoes extended their unbeaten streak to four on Wednesday night with a convincing 4-1 victory over Pitt-Greensburg. The win moved Geneva′s overall record to 4-2-2 on the season.
Geneva controlled the match from start to finish and out shot the Bobcats 27-8. Geneva′s Amanda Munsch scored the first of her two goals on the night to open the scoring in the fourth minute. Kelsey Anderson scored just three minutes later on a feed from Rebecca Shaw to extend the lead to 2-0. Munsch struck again in the 36th minute for her sixth goal of the season on a brilliant feed from Anderson.
Geneva took its 3-0 lead into the halftime break and only needed five minutes into the second half to extend the lead once again. Rebecca Shaw scored off of another pass from Anderson, which was her third point of the match. Lauren Londino was unable to pick up her fifth shut-out of the season as UPG broke the shut-out in the 72nd minute of action on a goal from Kelly Sakanich. Londino faced just four shots and goal and turned away three of them for her fourth victory of the season.
Geneva will enjoy an extended break before starting PAC play on October 3rd at Bethany. The Golden Tornadoes will return home on October 8th to face Washington & Jefferson.
