Craig, Merkle lead track teams at Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock, PA- Sophomore Colin Craig (Covington, PA) and senior Alayna Merkle (Chambersburg, PA) led Geneva′s efforts at the Slippery Rock Invitational, although the elements ruled the day. The meet was delayed by weather and high winds blew computers off the scorers′ tables. The event finished with the aid of headlights.

Craig finished second in the triple jump while Merkle finished fourth in the 1500 meters and sixth in the 800 meters.

"Conditions didn′t permit personal bests but we competed well against some very good Division II competition," said Geneva track coach Brian Yowler. "Our young sprinters saw dramatic improvement."

Both teams will continue their season Saturday at Westminster.
