This year, Geneva College is combining two popular events-Homecoming and Family Weekend -for one spectacular weekend for the community on October 10-11, 2014. These events are expected to draw those near, including students, faculty and nearby neighbors, as well as those far, including alumni returning to their alma mater and family coming to campus to enjoy festivities with their students.
A Student-Sibling Mic Night, New Song concert and All-Alumni Dessert are just a few of the activities on Friday. Traditional Homecoming events, including alumni reunions, street vendors, the crowning of a king and queen and the football game, will all be held on Saturday.
"We are excited to invite Geneva alumni and families back to our beautiful campus," said Geneva′s Director of Development Jolynn Fry. "There is a strong representation of alumni who will be gathering together for class reunions and departmental reunions. There are lots of activities for all ages all weekend including a petting zoo, bouncy house, food vendors and a Fall Festival for students and families after the Homecoming football game, Geneva vs. Thomas More."
On Saturday, the college invites the public to peruse the College Hill Festival, held on Geneva′s Pedestrian Walkway. Vendors will line the long sidewalk with goods ranging from hot coffee to handmade jewelry.
The traditional Homecoming celebration is designed to be action-packed for all ages, now that it is combined with Family Weekend. It will feature activities like a varsity volleyball game, movie showing and family games.
