Volleyball GTs are ECAC South Region Champions; defeats CMU 3-1

vb14ecac.jpgBeaver Falls, PA– Volleyball Golden Tornadoes are the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Region Champions after defeating Carnegie Mellon University in the final round 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23).

Freshman Erica Hughes (North Jackson, OH/Jackson Milton) finished her freshman campaign with 18 kills over the CMU Tartans. Grace Hayes put down ten kills in the mix.

A team defensive effort was made including four Golden Tornadoes with double digit digs; Alexis Ritson (Irwin, PA/Hempfield ) (34), Rachel Netherland (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley ) (23), Brie Dickson (Brookfield, OH/Kennedy Catholic) (20) and Marissa Naples (Cortland, OH/Lakeview) (19).

Netherland set for 24 assists, Naples set for 22 assists in the championship win.
