Geneva drops 81-56 decision in day one of Bluffton Tournament

Bluffton, Ohio – The Geneva women’s basketball team returned to the court after a week off for Christmas. The Golden Tornadoes dropped an 81-56 decision in the first day of the 3rd McDonald’s of Bluffton Holiday Tournament against Spring Arbor.

Now, 5-4 overall, Geneva will face either Ohio State Lima or Bluffton tomorrow at noon.

Miranda Heaney (New Castle PA/Union) led Geneva’s offense with 12 points. Heaney hit four three-pointers over Spring Arbor.

Heidi Mann (Colorado Springs, CO/Evangelical Christian Academy) also scored in double digits with 11.

Nicole Hyland (Trafford, PA/Penn Trafford) led Geneva’s rebounding efforts with nine.

“We struggled with their athleticism, especially defensively,” said head coach Lori Wynn. “It exposed some weaknesses which is actually a good place to be with Grove City on the schedule soon.”
