Women’s Track Finishes Third in PAC Championship Meet

Youngstown, OH – In their second year competing fat the President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Meet, the Geneva women’s track and field team placed third on Thursday, February 25. Their third place finish was just a half point behind Thomas More in second. Westminster took the Championship.

“The team had a great day finishing third overall,” said head coach Phil Thompson. “This team has worked hard all season and it paid off. Everyone had a great performance at the biggest meet and I am very proud of their results.”

Sophomore Jessica Kelosky (Fombell, PA / Riverside) reset three Geneva school records, two in individual events. She finished second in the 60 meter dash she ran for a time 8.03 seconds and second the 200 meter dash in 26.51 seconds. 

The Distance Relay team made up of Havilah Gaugler (Emsworth, PA / Avonworth), Kelosky, Hannah Mansell (Reading, PA / Governor Mifflin), Madelyn Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA / Cumberland Valley) came in first with a new school record time of 13:13.12.

Blosser ran to a new school record in the 800 meter run with a second place time of 2:23.56.

Sophomore Nicole Bartoletta (Monaca, PA / Central Valley) continues to remain strong for Geneva in the 60 meter hurdles race as she finish second with a time of 9.39 seconds.

Freshman Mansell finished fourth in the mile run with a time of 5:37.81.

Sophomore Kailee Loose (Beaver, PA / Beaver) jumped to a third place finish in the women’s long jump even by jumping 5.01 meters. 

In the field, junior Sarah Foy (Rockwood, PA / Rockwood Area) competed in two events on Thursday were she was able to add to the total points for the finish. She finished second in the Shot Put with a distance of 10.83 meters. She also competed in the weight throw were her 11.71 meter throw placed her fifth. 

While conference indoor track is over, some of the Geneva track and field student-athletes qualified over the course of the season for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) post-season indoor season meet in Staten Island, New York on March 4.
