Dr. Marvin Dewey Brings Leadership and Development Experiences to the Role

Dr. Marvin Dewey, Vice President of Institutional Advancement(Beaver Falls, PA) Geneva College announces the appointment of Marvin Dewey, Ed.D. as its new Vice President of Institutional Advancement beginning  September 16, 2016. The college selected Dr. Dewey for this role because of his extensive experience in Christian higher education leadership and development, including a strong record in Institutional Advancement. 

Dr. Dewey earned his doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Master of Divinity from the North American Baptist Seminary. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from North American Baptist College (now Taylor College and Seminary) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Dr. Dewey comes to Geneva from Sterling College, where he served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Associate Vice President for Leadership Gifts and Special Projects.  He has practical experience building philanthropic programs to support Christian higher education in the U.S. and Canada since 1994. He was the President of Taylor University College and Seminary (now Taylor College and Seminar) in Edmonton, Canada, and worked as Vice President of Advancement and Director of Development at North American Baptist Seminary (now Sioux Falls Seminary) in Sioux Falls, SD.

In addition to a strong personal record in fundraising through major gift programs, Dr. Dewey has executive leadership experience across the spectrum of Institutional Advancement work. He has worked with planned giving, alumni relations, and foundation sources in addition to major gifts. 

Dr. Calvin Troup, President of Geneva College, says, “Dr. Dewey’s professional acumen is informed by his commitment to Christ and a clear calling to service in Christian higher education.  He understands the transformative work of Christian higher education and the resources necessary to conduct that work. Dr. Troup is beginning his first year in the role of President at Geneva. In a communication to faculty and staff he noted, “As we start this new season at Geneva together, I am thankful that Dr. Dewey has answered the call to come and work with us. There is much good work for us to do together at Geneva College.”
