High Hopes for Junior Class in Conference Coach’s Pre-Season Poll

track

Beaver Falls, PA – The Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) recently released their pres-season coaches poll and players to watch for the 2016 women’s indoor track and field season. The Geneva women’s track and field team was voted to be the fourth best team in the conference in front of rival schools like Grove City College and Washington & Jefferson College. The Golden Tornadoes also have four promising athletes that have chosen as players to watch over this upcoming season based on strong performances from the previous season.

Junior hurdler Nicole Bartoletta was the first player mentioned as a Geneva College player to watch, and she has not disappointed. In the YSU Icebreaker meet on Friday, December 2 Bartoletta broke her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.09 seconds. In the PAC indoor championship meet last year, Bartoletta ran to a second place finish with a time good enough to qualify her for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) end of season meet in that event.

Junior mid-distance runner Madelyn Blosser continues to be a headline long distance runner for Geneva after finishing the fall cross country season with the honor of first team all-PAC. Last indoor season was Blosser was able to compete and excel in the several events throughout the course of the season. Last indoor season she set the school record individually in the 800 meter events with a time of 2:23.56 in the PAC championship meet before being a part of the distance medley relay that took first place.

Junior sprinter Jessica Kelosky had a stand-out year in 2016 as she set two school records. In the 60 meter race she ran it in 8.06 seconds before later that season setting the 200 meter record with a time of 26.51. Kelosky was also part of the winning distance medley relay with Blosser.

The last junior on the preseason poll is dual threat junior Kailee Loose. In the PAC Championship meet last indoor season, Loose competed in the long jump event and won third place with her 5.01 meter jump. Earlier in the indoor season, she also was competitive in the 60 meter event as a sprinter as well during the season.

The Golden Tornadoes will take to the track again on January 20 when they head to Youngstown State University to compete in the YSU College Invitational.
