Beaver Falls, PA – On Saturday (Nov. 12), the Geneva College women’s cross country team traveled to Desales University to compete in the NCAA DIII Mideast Region Cross Country Championships. The team finished 29th overall with an average time of 25:26.

“The women haven't finished in the top 30 since 2012 so we were excited about the improvement. It was a great way to end the season,” said head coach Brian Yowler.

The spread from the first Geneva runner to finish to the last was only 36 seconds.

“Furthermore, a 35 second split between the first and fifth runner is the best in the region. Since we return all but one of our top five runners, we are excited about the future. If we can get faster each year but keep our pack together there are big things ahead for this team!” exclaimed Yowler.

In her final race, senior Rebecca Miller (Spring Grove, PA/Spring Grove) led the way for her team crossing the finish line at 25:06. She was followed closely behind by President’s Athletic Conference (PAC) first-team runner junior Madeline Blosser (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) who finished in 25:08.

Freshman Jennifer Simmons (Frederick, MD/Walkersville) was the first underclassman to cross the finish line for the Golden Tornadoes with a time of 25:30

The Regional meet brought to a close the 2016 Geneva cross country season.
