Latrobe, PA – After a pair of non-conference games, Geneva men’s basketball returned to conference play at Saint Vincent on Tuesday, January 3. The tight game of six lead changes left Geneva upset 65-60 lowering the Golden Tornadoes overall record to 5-6, 2-2 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC).

The Golden Tornadoes took the lead with a good layup and free throw combo from Chaese Vaudrin (Uniontown, OH/Lake); 24-23. Joey Jou (Miami, FL/Westwood Christian) added to the lead with a good layup of his own. The halftime score settled with the Bearcats leading 31-28.

Ethan Moose (New Castle, PA/Neshannock) opened scoring in the second followed by Geneva’s first and only three-pointer of the game by David Oliver (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley). The five points allowed the Golden Tornadoes to retake the lead 33-31.

Each team held the other to only one good bucket from outside the three-point line.

Geneva couldn’t outlast the Bearcats dropping the 65-60 decision.

Vaudrin finished the barn burner recording 16 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Crenshaw (Moon Twp, PA/Moon/Mt. Aloysius) posted 13 points, seven rebounds. Moose tallied 12 points while Oliver scored 11.

On Thursday, January 5 Geneva returns home to host rival Grove City at 7:30 p.m.
