(BEAVER FALLS, Pa.) – The application period for the 2018 Addison Gibson Grant closes this Monday, October 1.  Established in memory of Addison Gibson, this grant will provide aid to Geneva College undergraduate students who are Western Pennsylvania residents.

Addison Gibson was a native of Armstrong County and possessed a fortune from the burgeoning oil industry. Gibson desired to use his wealth to help people in Western Pennsylvania who could not afford medical care or college education. In 1936, the Addison Gibson Foundation was established in Pittsburgh, distributing millions of dollars for the purposes he intended, including the Addison Gibson Grant for Geneva College undergraduate students.

This grant is a one-time distribution in the 2019 spring semester. Various criteria apply, including residency in one of the twenty specified counties of Western Pennsylvania, financial need according to the 2018-19 FASFA, status as a full-time undergraduate sophomore/junior/senior, and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. With the deadline swiftly approaching, all qualifying students are encouraged to apply.

For an application, a complete review of eligibility criteria, or questions, contact Student Financial Services at SFS@geneva.edu or 724.847.6530. Applications are to be submitted to SFS, located in the lower level of Alexander Hall, by October 1, and recipients will be notified by email before December 1, 2018.
