Geneva College will introduce significant updates to The Brig this summer, redesigning the serving area and food stations to expand dining options and enhance the student experience.
The renovation will introduce three distinct food destinations within The Brig: a new grille station, a customizable made-to-order site, and a grab-and-go market designed for convenience.
"Our goal is to elevate the dining experience for our students,” says Timothy Baird, vice president of business and finance. “These changes provide customizable options that appeal to the on-the-go lifestyle of college students.”
One of the new destinations will be a grille-style restaurant featuring a menu of signature creations. New meal options include the Turbo Burger — a cheeseburger topped with slow-roasted pork and golden barbeque sauce — and the Kick’en Tornado Chicken — a grilled chicken sandwich with a housemade Kick’en spice rub and coleslaw. The station’s final name has not yet been chosen, and Geneva plans to invite students to participate in a campus contest to help name the new grille this spring.
Another new option, Tossed, provides a made-to-order spot allowing students to craft their own salad, wrap, or pizza. With over twenty fresh toppings, a dozen sauce flavors, and numerous combinations, the concept emphasizes flexibility and personalized flavor.
The Market offers an expanded grab-and-go selection for students looking for quick and convenient options. The space will feature snacks, beverages, ready-made meals, and other convenience items designed to accommodate busy schedules.
The Brig (short for The Brigadoon) has long been a popular gathering space for students on campus. Located within the Student Center, it offers food options throughout the day as well as areas for studying and socializing with friends. The Riverview Café, also located in The Brig, serves Starbucks coffee and offers a cozy spot tucked away from the crowds.
Upcoming renovations represent the first phase of broader improvements planned for The Brig. While the current project focuses on the serving area and dining stations, additional upgrades to the dining space are under consideration as part of a longer-term plan.
