{"articleDetail":{"publishDateDisplay":"April 20, 2026","summary":"Jonathan Tencza will be the new vice president of institutional advancement for the Geneva College Foundation, effective June 1, 2026.","image":"site://geneva.edu/news/_assets/jonathan-tencza-header.jpg","tagItems":"[]","articleText":"Geneva College has selected Jonathan Tencza as the new vice president of institutional advancement. In this role, Tencza will oversee the Geneva College Foundation, connecting alumni, donors, and friends through donor engagement and philanthropic initiatives supporting the College’s mission. \nPresident Calvin Troup ‘83, PhD says, “We’re thrilled to have Jonathan join the leadership team at Geneva. We'apos;re grateful that he’s ready to continue building the Geneva College Foundation, established through the commitment and generosity of alumni and friends of the College.” \nTencza has a strong background in Christian-school and higher education advancement, most recently serving as chief advancement officer at Lakeland Christian School in Florida. His work contributed to record enrollment and a record-setting gala. He successfully led an annual campaign to fund critical campus security upgrades, launched a new Day of Giving initiative that engaged both new and lapsed donors, and coordinated events to deepen donor relationships. He also implemented new CRM systems, established processes for donor tracking and recognition, and began building foundations for future initiatives such as a Giving Club and Legacy Society. \nPrior to this, Tencza served as regional director of development at Covenant College in Georgia, where he increased giving in his region by more than 60%. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles in finance and sales, where he developed team leadership, financial negotiation, and marketing skills, as well as experience in education as a high school teacher and coach. Tencza earned his bachelor'apos;s degree from Covenant College in 2011. \n“I am passionate about how a college education that centers around Christ can shape a whole generation to be strong, wise Christians and live out His calling to advance His kingdom,” says Tencza. “I’m excited about the opportunity to continue advancement work in a kingdom-focused way at Geneva College.” \nTencza’s hiring follows the retirement of Marv Dewey, EdD, former vice president of institutional advancement and president of the Geneva College Foundation.
