New full-time faculty members

This fall, the Geneva College faculty welcomes five new full-time members to its accomplished ranks. Three new professors will be joining our dedicated faculty, and two familiar faces will be serving the college in different capacities. Geneva is pleased to announce the following full-time faculty appointments for the fall 2012 semester:

  • Dr. Lowell Cummings will join the newly formed Department of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as an associate professor of physics. He comes to Geneva from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Dr. Cummings has a Ph.D. in Physics with a minor in astronomy from New Mexico State University. He earned a master′s degree in physics at Bowling Green State University and a bachelor′s degree at the University of New Mexico, where he majored in physics and minored in mathematics.
  • Professor Jonathan Impellizzeri will be a member of the Department of Psychology, Counseling and Human Services. He will teach primarily in Geneva′s CACREP-accredited graduate counseling program and will be the Coordinator of the Marriage and Family Counseling Program. Professor Impellizzeri was a clinical supervisor at Wesley Spectrum Services in Pittsburgh and is a Doctoral Candidate of Counselor Education and Supervision at Regent University. He received a Master of Science in Counselor Education from Duquesne University and completed his undergraduate work in psychology and theology at Lee University in Tennessee.
  • Dr. Matthew Kickasola will join the Department of Music. Dr. Kickasola has held several adjunct teaching positions in the St. Louis area. He earned his doctorate in historical musicology at Washington University in St. Louis. He also possesses two master′s degrees, one in historical musicology from Washington University and one in vocal performance from Temple. He received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Covenant College.
  • Dr. Keith Martel has been the Director of Geneva′s Center for Faith and Practice for the past three years and also taught part-time here for many years in a variety of areas. This fall, he will join the faculty of the graduate program in higher education. He recently completed his Ph.D. in Philosophy at Duquesne University, and earned an M.A. in Philosophy at Duquesne University and both an M. A. in Higher Education and bachelor′s degrees in political science and philosophy at Geneva.
  • Dr. Shannan Shiderly will be an associate professor of graduate counseling and the coordinator of the program′s school counseling track. She comes to Geneva from Blackhawk High School, where she was a school counselor and the chair of the guidance department. Dr. Shiderly was also an adjunct professor in Geneva′s psychology department during the past academic year. She holds a doctor′s degree in philosophy from Robert Morris University, a master′s in education from Westminster College and a B.S. in Psychology from Geneva.

Provost Dr. Ken Carson says, “We thank the Lord for bringing these people to Geneva and ask His blessing on their work, and on the efforts of the entire Geneva community, in preparing our students to pursue their vocations and build Christ′s kingdom.”
