Dear Geneva Alumni,
Many of you fondly recall the emotions of receiving your Geneva diploma in front of family and friends, reflecting on those people who helped you achieve your goal and praising God for His providence through it all. I had the pleasure of officially conferring degrees on over 400 graduates of Geneva College this past Saturday. It was accomplished in a unique way - by video – in a unique time – during the COVID-19 pandemic. We plan to hold a live commencement ceremony as soon as it becomes feasible.
As you welcome these new alumni into your ranks, I pray that you can continue to support them as you support each other and as you are able. They will need your expertise, your wisdom, your connections and your prayers in the weeks and months ahead. They enter an inhospitable work environment, one which held nothing but promise a mere three months ago. However, they enter the world as well-prepared as they can be with a Geneva education and equipped to serve God and neighbor with knowledge, enthusiasm and an enduring faith. Our partnership is accomplishing good things.
Thank you for persistently walking through this season with us and with our graduates and students. We have much work to do to prepare for the next academic year. The work is hard and sometimes frustrating, but it is worth it. We will not grow weary in doing good. And with God’s grace and your ongoing time, resources and prayers, the good work being done at Geneva will continue to produce good fruit for the kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Warmly in Christ,
Calvin L. Troup, PhD,
President
